Additional Information

Sarah is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). Working with Sarah, hopefully you'll feel welcome just as you are! Her aim is to create a safe, non-judgemental environment online or in person, and invite you to join her in compassionate exploration of your challenges, knowledge and skills, strengths, and goals.

Her approach in supporting you will be eclectic, drawing from various, evidence-based modalities based upon your needs. She most often utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness/Meditation practices, and other forms of trauma-focused care. Creative Expression and Spiritual Counseling (not tied to a particular religious/spiritual orientation) can also be helpful and woven into the mix.

Sarah's career started in business management/administration for various non-profit organizations, including those focused on perinatal substance use recovery and family reunification (attachment and family-systems based), young adults with severe disabilities, and adults impacted by forms of dementia. She was also in AmeriCorps for two terms before transitioning to work as a licensed clergy person accompanying community members through short-term one-on-one, family, or couples counseling and critical- and end-of-life care. Later, she pivoted to the biopsychosocial-spiritual field as a nationally board certified, interfaith Chaplain in hospital settings supporting patients, their families, and healthcare workers, as well as with a large urban police department, university settings, and other clinical settings on the East and West Coasts.

Sources of strength and joy for Sarah include her transracial family unit, porch sitting, urban travel, walking, watching witty comedy, and laughing out loud.

One meaningful quote for her is "Be easy. Take your time. You are coming home to yourself." ~ Nayyirah Waheed
